“Becoming a Post-Truth Society” at People’s Gallery through October. Negative Influence of disinformation, misinformation, and the cognitive process.
Five Vermont towns donated their expired license tags for this project, depicting misinformation’s harmful impact. The outer circles have become less understood while the center tries to hold. This is representative of becoming a post-truth society. Fact and fiction become intertwined into an intoxicating image, hiding what consequences await us for our apathy.
The screw hooks and extra dog tags make it possible for anyone experiencing the work to change what those who follow them will see.
There’s a lot of stuff in this work: about 3,000 bits of metal, tags, and hook screws on three homemade wood panels.
